07-21-2019 – Ephesians 2:14-18, Peace with God, through Christ…
Read Ephesians 2:14-18… Jesus brought peace with
God to anyone who comes to Him by faith.
Jesus brings God’s peace, destroying the dividing wall of hostility, unifying all people as one in Christ..
Christ abolished the authority of the law, by His own death and resurrection, making full payment for all sin.
Sin’s enemy is defeated by God’s peace, given to all those who trust in Christ; those hated by the world.
John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” 15:18-19, “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.” 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” 1John 3:13, “Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you.”
COEXIST
The Body of Believers is marked by God’s Spirit (cf. Galatians 3:28-29; 1Corinthians 12-14, 18, 20, 27).
Before Christ, Gentiles and Jews couldn’t fellowship or worship together because all the distinctions caused alienation; in Christ alone there is peace and unity. Colossians 2:16-17, “no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day— things which are a shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.” Romans 10:11-13, “For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.’ For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for ‘Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved’.
Colossians 1:21-22, “And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach.”
Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
See 2Corinthians 5:14-21…
John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me’.” 15-17 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.” 1John 4:13, “By this we know that we abide [live] in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.”
The only way to enter God’s presence, is through Jesus Christ. He alone has provided eternal peace, having reconciled sinful men with the Holy God of Creation; and only those who believe in Him, trusting in what He accomplished through the cross and the resurrection, will receive eternal life in heaven.
Romans 10:9-10… God’s greatest gift is Jesus, Yeshua [Hebrew = God’s Salvation]; [cf Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23, Immanuel = God with us].
Our purpose is to tell others about God’s Son.
John 20:31, “so [they] may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing [they] may have life in His name.”
Acts 4:12, “there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
