12-15-2019 – ‘Tis the Season of Christmas
Pastor: Pastor Mike |
Out of 195 countries, about 160 celebrate Christmas, but a growing effort is trying to remove all references Christ and/or Christianity from our culture.
B.C. = Before Christ
A.D. = Latin Anno Domini (the Year of the Lord) C.E. = Common or Current Era
B.C.E. = Before Common Era
Christmas = Christ [Anointed or Holy One] and Mass [assembly or gathering for religious observances].
See Luke 1:1-57. See Luke 2:1-8.
It is no very likely that Jesus was born in December, for a variety of reasons… But then, when He was born is not so important, the fact that He was born according to the Scriptures, is very important.
See John 1:1-4, 14, 18; 8:12; 1John 1:5
The Light of the world has indeed come.
The Christmas season is all about the Incarnation of God, in Christ; He put on flesh and lived among us, then He went to the cross to pay our penalty for sin.
Christmas is a special time to reverently worship the Savior, born in the town of David: He is Christ the Lord.
Christmas celebrates the coming of the promised Messiah, sent by God to save us from our sins.
Christmas is a time when people are more open about the gospel, and we should make the most of every opportunity, to be witnesses of the saving grace, mercy, and love of God, through Jesus Christ.
Christmas provides a wonderful opportunity to share God’s greatest gift to us: Jesus Christ, Immanuel.
Next Sunday, we’ll consider the events surrounding the birth of God’s One and Only Son; if you know someone who hasn’t received Jesus Christ, invite them, perhaps even offer to bring them to church, so they might be exposed to and perhaps receive God’s Gift.
The majority of the world rejects Jesus Christ, and the rest of the world is confused about Him.
As Christians, our purpose and blessing is to share the Reason for the Season of Christmas, with others.
God came to us in the flesh of a baby, conceived in the womb of a young virgin, raised in obscurity, His ultimate purpose was to bring forgiveness for sin to everyone who would receive Him, believing in God’s irrevocable and eternal Gift: Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior.
If you are a Christian, your greatest blessing is to spread the news: Everyone who calls on Him for the forgiveness of sins will be saved.
Because of that sovereign truth we can boldly say, Merry Christmas!
