11.24.19 ~ Ephesians 5:3-7, Living to Please God
See Ephesians 5:3. immorality = all sexual sin (fornication, adultery, homosexuality, pedophilia, pornography). impurity = all immoral thoughts, passions, fantasies, and behaviors. greed = all lusting after, leading to avarice (replacing God worship with creature worship).
See Ephesians 5:4. filthiness = all that is disgraceful, obscene, vile and dirty, in reference to speech. silly talk (dull, stupid, silly, speech) coarse jesting = crude, offensive
See Ephesians 5:5. Immorality, impurity, and greed, are characteristic of unbelievers (see 1Corinthians 6:9-11; Galatians 5:19-21).
See Ephesians 5:6. God’s people are not live like those who will spend eternity in hell
1Corinthians 6:11, “Such were some of you.” It is (Galatians 5:21) “those who practice such things,” who will not go to heaven.
See Ephesians 5:7. Christians are not to be like the ungodly (see Psalm 1:1-3).
We must be mindful and alert, we either influence others for God or they influence us to sin!
2Peter 1:3-4, “His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.”
The ways of God and the ways of the world are very different. Most religious belief and practice in America doesn’t align with biblical Christianity.
Don’t be deceived! no one is born-again apart from the repentance of sins and belief in Christ.
If you do not desire to know and obey what God’s Word teaches, it is possible you are still dead in your sins, separated from life with God (see John 1:12-13; John 3:1-8; 5:24).
No one coming to Christ can expect to remain in the same condition they were in before being born again (cf. 2Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:20). 1John 5:11-13, “And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
If you belong to Christ, you know you have forgiveness and eternal life; you will desire to live in a manner that pleases God.
If you you aren’t sure, you need to ask Him right now, right here, to forgive your sins and save your soul (cf. Romans 10:9-10, 13).
John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” 1Timothy 2:3-4, “God our Savior, …desires all men (women and children of age) to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
God turns no one away from salvation through Christ. Christians among all peoples should be a thankful people, for we belong to (Revelation 1:8), “the Alpha and the Omega, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty,” and therefore we should declare (Revelation 7:12), “Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”
